Using the resources provided by the annual Wyoming Buddy Walk and other grants and donations, WyDSA provides education, information, networking opportunities and support for families and individuals with Down syndrome in the state of Wyoming.

Wyoming Down Syndrome Family Conference

Grants to Families
WyDSA provides a limited number of grants to assist families with costs associated with attending conferences, programs and events.
Contribute to NDSS
Each year WyDSA makes a contribution to the National Down Syndrome Society to assist them in achieving their goals on a national level.

Outreach

Buddy News
WyDSA creates and distributes the Buddy News four times a year in an effort to provide people with information.

Past Projects
"Choosing Naia" Book Donation

The book "Choosing Naia: A Family’s Journey" was donated to Wyoming public libraries. The book was donated in 2004 to honor October as Down Syndrome Awareness Month in Wyoming. The goal of the donation was to help get information to people with Down syndrome and their families, as well as to the general public.

"Gifts" Book Donation
WyDSA donated the book "Gifts: Mothers Reflect on How Children with Down Syndrome Enrich Their Lives" to public libraries throughout Wyoming.
Healthcare Guideline Distribution
WyDSA provided best practice health care guidelines for people with Down syndrome from birth through adulthood to physicians around the state of Wyoming.
Rock Springs, Wyoming Outreach Session

On February 24, 2007 WyDSA traveled to Rock Springs and invited families to join us for a half day education session. The day included an introduction to WyDSA and the Wyoming Buddy Walk and a session titled “Taking the confusion out of the ICAP and Waiver.” This information was presented by Dave Heath from the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities.

Gillette, Wyoming Outreach Session
On January 26, 2008 WyDSA traveled to Gillette and offered a half day education session which included an introduction of WyDSA and the Wyoming Buddy Walk. Dave Health from the Wyoming Institue for Disabilites led a session titled "Taking the confusion out of the "ICAP." This was followed by Case Manager Angela Mosley from Ark Regional Services and her session 'The Medicaid Waiver and Parent Issues."
Cody and Thermopolis, Wyoming Education Sessions
On May 9, 2009 WyDSA traveled to Cody and Thermopolis and hosted two get togethers for families. Both events included an introduction to WyDSA and information on the Medicaid Waiver proved by Case Manager Angela Mosley from Ark Regional Services.
