WyDSA provides welcome boxes referred to as Buddy Boxes to hospitals around Wyoming. Boxes have been distributed to dozens of hospitals around the state. The boxes are given to families of newborns with Down syndrome.
The Buddy Box Program also reaches out to the families that may not have received a box at the hospital. Information about the Buddy Boxes and a card to receive a Buddy Box have been sent to pediatricians, general and family practitioners, Public Health offices, and Developmental Preschools around Wyoming.
The Buddy Box contains three books; Babies with Down Syndrome: A New Parents Guide, a children’s picture book, I Can, Can You?, and Gifts: Mothers Reflect on How Children with Down Syndrome Enrich Their Lives, a cuddly fleece blanket, a Buddy Walk stuffed horse, a picture frame, Down syndrome healthcare guidelines, informational brochures, a $25 Walmart gift card, and information on how to contact WyDSA.
